Entry: S-square D-square Nov 21, 2003

Yeah yeah all you smart folks should figure that one out. Same shit, different day, wrong city. Sucks, doesn't it?

Oh well, I am done moping around, some more tequila golguppas today evening should do the trick. Yes, I forget I am "cultivating" a circle these days! I get invited to jazz-do's at the Turquoise Clubs and the Dublins of the world (which obviously I don't go to - duh!!) Brings to mind my Mumbai days, used to get out of work close to midnight on a Friday evening, looking like a much-mangled chewed-upon and clawed raggedy-ann doll that the cat dragged in from somewhere, while all the beautiful people smelling like a goddamn Mediterranean garden would disembark from their carriages, coiffured hair in place, five inches of make-up intact, and midriffs baring exotic piercings and semi-permanent tattos would waltz into Athena nextdoor. And we all (flunks in the corporate scheme of things) waited for that ONE slow friday evening of being in-between deals, where we could potentially do the same and spite ourselves on a sunny day. Of course that Friday never came in sin city, but Fridays such as the heart desired then, did come my way, and still do, ironically, my geographic coordinates as they stand today, do not permit me to indulge myself such.

Then I didn't have the time and all the inclination in the world, today I have the time and no inclination. Ironic. Oh well, seems like I run into "times like these time and again...."

Anyway, only a month more to go before I can hit sin city again and thaw (physically and metaphysically), I live for days like this.

Yup, D> Alibaug is quite nice actually, Murud Janjeera is even better. Very scenic drive, kind of like the Route 1 drive along the Californian coast. Driving down from San Fran towards Monterey or Carmel has a similar feel.

Agree with you on the 31st shindigs - always avoided them like the plague, too Saturday-nightish, too in-your-face dying to impress kind of thing. Prefer intimate house parties with a close set of friends instead.

Bombay does grow on you bigtime, like you said squalor and soot notwithstanding! :) Scrubbing that soot off your face? Ha ha - tell me about it!! :) Remember coming home straight from the Bandra train station and heading straight for the shower!

Never been to Abyss - looks sad, smells sad always felt very seedy and shady to me. Even the crowd that one sees entering there ticks me off. Although nothing to beat Toto's - to this day - was surprised to find Counting Crows and Nirvana there last time around! You should try it of late if you haven't, that is.

Driving down to alibaug is not all that bad an idea actually.(assailed by a paroxysm of nostalgia)At the very least , it would be a change from the usual 31st shindigs which get too saturday night-ish.Except for the jazzier raiment.
LC , no , i'm not a bombay gi.rl. Just lived there a bit. Miss it big frikkin' time..Bombay , so grows you , squalor twithstanding.I even miss ferociously scrubbing that endearing soot off my face every night.
Love fluid and mikhanos too.The one bandra club i cannot countenance is Abyss. Sad , sad , sad place , that.

THEN we HAVE to put in our BESTEST performance Enigma!! For all those slurrpy slobbery wet kisses! ;) It does sound like a song sweetheart, but its true you know, same here, right from the heart, so long as I am with you, I could be sitting in my jammies alll day long on your bed and do nothing but talk and laugh with you, and STILL come away feeling as though we had a ball! :) But we shall try our level best, problem is I have always ONLY done house parties on the 31st till date, because it just gets so mad and crazy out there. But we'll get it together, not to worry. :)

D> Yup, Club 9 is "homey" as you call it - mostly the hang-out of local Bandra-ites, possible next to Toto's! Mikano's and the retro bar at Velocity are my other "likeable joints", although I used to quite like Fluid too - not too large, not too trampling-on-people-on-five-square-inches-of standing-space, yet nice and "homey" (there we go again) and intimate. You wouldn't happen to be from the good old city too, would you? :) Always fills me with joy to find one more Mumbai person with similar "hang-out" preferences.

Enigma, hang on hang on, love, don't thank us in anticipation just yet!! You know how lazy and inconsistent Prats and I both are!! So is Anu - spoke to her last night and she went, "but babe, this is only November!" So let's deliver you the grand 31st first as promised and then we shall be in a position to receive your gratitude! :) Although we do promise you a good time, we just don't know what and where and how! :) For all you know, we might end up driving down to Alibaug or something for the evening! :) Or if your luck is really sorry, we might end up walking down Marine Drive or the Bandstand all night, munching peanuts! ;) THEN, I am sure you won't want to be as generous with your hugs! :) Just kidding, don't worry doll, we'll do summin'.

Great , sweetheart , I knew between you and Prats you'll work out the details. Thanks so much for doing this. I owe you and Prats a great big hug for ending this year on a bright and beautiful note. Can't wait for a few days with you.

Will leave you all with this thought - "A dreamer is one who can only find his way by moonlight and his punishment is that he sees the dawn before the rest of the world." Oscar Wilde. Thank you and have a good weekend denizens.

Yeah baby, will have something/someplace for us to go to Dec 31st - don't you worry! Although me being physically away from the city is hampering the event-planning, I am going to have to solicit some help re bookings and stuff! Prats promised to oblige. :)

I know I hate Athena too - too "happening" for my tastes! Insomia is passe too...like the Bandra low-brow pubs though. Used to like Three Flights Up as well! Although we are shooting for Velocity or Mikano's for Dec. ;)

Athena? NA MUNNI NA!!! *grin* Yousuf Khan how great thou art.

Harreh, Athen and Insomnia and all these chutiya places are boring as hell.

GHETTO! And TAVERN and CELLAR, before they were ruthlessly closed down by the powers that were.
